The following students from the Colgate University Class of 2016 have been inducted into the Colgate chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the national scholastic honorary society that recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of first-year students. The approximately 167 students who received the prestigious distinction for having earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the 2011-2012 academic year were honored at a fall banquet.

Students have been admitted to the Carleton College class of 2017.

More than 800 Belmont University student musicians, singers and faculty along with the Nashville Children's Choir perform in the nationally televised airing of "Christmas at Belmont." Hosted by internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, the annual production of traditional carols, classical masterworks, world music and light-hearted seasonal favorites will premiere on PBS on December 20 at 9 p.m. Central.

Each first-year student will participate in St. Lawrence University's innovative First-Year Program, an introduction to the liberal arts curriculum taught in residence halls by faculty teams.
